A.E.R® System
The A.E.R. ® Compression System combines the best features of both active and passive compression therapies into one. During treatment, the A.E.R. Boot is used with the PresSsion® pump, much like a traditional PresSsion garment. However, with the A.E.R. Compression System, the patient can continue therapy after treatment by simply walking in the A.E.R. Boot. A unique approach to intermittent compression, the A.E.R. Boot provides an air chamber beneath the foot, which when compressed by weight bearing, increases the pressure in the main chamber of the boot. This pneumatic walking boot can be used during full or partial weight bearing. Every step taken creates intermittent compression in the boot, while engaging the body’s lymphatic pump via muscle contractions of the lower extremity. This dual action pumping mechanism enhances the compression therapy beyond traditional passive methods. The system uses the PresSsion intermittent compression pump, which surpasses other pump technology by moving larger volumes of air, meaning it takes less time to fill a garment before the actual treatment can begin. Another key benefit offered by the A.E.R. Compression System is compression plus cold. For acute injuries, simply place cold FlexiPacs™ in the built-in pockets and attach the A.E.R. Boot to the PresSsion pump, cold and compression can be delivered in the same treatment. Walking in the A.E.R. Boot will continue this combination therapy.
